Description of a Bosnian Coarse Haired Hound.
The Bosnian Coarse Haired Hound is a breed of dog.
Bosnian hunters in the 19th century developed the Bosnian Coarse Haired Hound as a scent hound. In 1965 the breed was recognised by the FCI under the name Illyrian Hound, however the name was changed to the current name but the standard has changed very little.
This medium to large sized hound has a serious expression which is softened by its pronounced bushy eyebrows. Slighty longer than it is tall these dogs stand between 46-55cm (18-22in) to the shoulder and weigh between 16-24kg (35-53lbs).
The shaggy coat comes in various colours including wheaten, reddish yellow, earthy grey or blackish with white markings or bi and tri-coloured.
