El Gran Mastín de Borínquen, also known as the Puerto Rican Mastiff, Mastín Borincano, Becerillo de Borínquen and Perro Barsino de Hacienda, is the only breed native to the island of Puerto Rico. The Borinquen Mastiff is a blend of Spanish War Mastiffs, traditional island dogs (Perros Jibaros) and Latin American Molossers, all brought to the island for protection from colonial times until the early 20th century.
