Description of a Grand Anglo-Francais Tricolore.

The Grand Anglo-Francais Tricolore hound is descended from tri coloured Poitevins and Foxhounds. This combination of breeding has strongly influenced this breed in many ways, they are strong and compact in stature like the foxhound with a black blanketed tri-colour coat. they were used as a pack dog to hunt large game such as Roe Deer.

This tricolore hound is only found in the three colours of black, white and tan. They stand 60-72cm (24-28in) to the shoulder and weigh between 34.5-35.5kg (76-78lbs) They have a short double coat which comprises a soft, fine undercoat and thick coarse topcoat.

This large popular French hound gets on well with other dogs and children. They make an excellent companion and are very loyal. They require an immense amount of exercise although letting them off the lead may be hazardous as the hunting instinct is very high.
