Description of a Huntaway.

The Huntaway is a breed of dog that dates as a distinct breed from the 1900s. They are used for herding livestock. A huntaway is a heavy New Zealand sheepdog used to move sheep away from the shepherd. It uses its bark to herd flocks and is well known for a being noisy dog.

Huntaways can be expected to live to around 12 to 14 years old. Huntaways are very energetic, active dogs and require a lot of exercise. The recommended way to exercise a Huntaway is to let it run freely.

Huntaways are large dogs that generally weigh in the region of 55-80 pounds. Their coats can vary in colour; colors include black, black and tan with some white or brindle. Their coats can also come in different textures; they can be smooth, rough, or grizzly. A huntaway’s height is usually about 20-24 inches tall.
