Description of a Posavac Hound.

The Posavac Hound originated in the Former Yugoslavia in the 1700s. They probably share a common origin with other similar breeds that originated from the Former yugoslavia, their ancestors having been introduced via the ports of the Adriatic coast.

The coat of this hound tends to be predominantly red in color. The colors yellow and fawn are much less common.

The Posavac Hound should be between 17-23 inches tall and weigh 35-45 pounds. Another name for the breed is the Posavski Gonic.
